June 9th-12th 2014 Plymouth MA
We had a variety of weather as New England is famous for but that didn't stop the people from enjoying the area. Maybelle was kind enough to bring literature of Sandwich MA which helped folks decide on visiting the Cape Cod Canal visitor center for a history of the making of the canal, Sandwich Glass Museum and the Heritage Museum and Gardens. Traveling during the week was a speedy entry to Cape Cod.
Tom & Diane Crittenden were the vcrs, they were from Washington and sightseeing the area for 10 days.
Mon evening folks enjoyed a pizza party and campfire. Thanks Ron for being in charge of the campfire. Tue after a hearty breakfast some folks spent the day exploring Plymouth with a gathering for lunch at Isaac's restaurant where the food & view was great, Evening ice cream social was enjoyed by all. Wed after filling up on a pancake breakfast, folks left for Sandwich MA for a little sightseeing with campfire in evening by Rick Russo.
Have to thank Maureen for helping cook the eggs, Tom the sausage, Ron cooking the pancakes and of course Judy Penman who was constantly on the go. We were sorry that Don couldn't make it because of Family. Also thanks to all the other folks who helped us. Volunteers are what makes a rally.
We had 11 rigs with one trailer rental and one cabin rental. We were happy that Irene and Fran Lambert came for the day, they no longer have an rv so rented a cabin. Fred & Nancy McKenna came for an overnight, it was great to see them.
It was our third time hosting a rally, I would encourage folks to volunteer to host, you always have a lot of help.

2014 August Rally Report
Rally Wagonmasters: Grace Taylor and Julie Antworth
The 2014 LobsterFest - 30th Anniversary Rally was held as usual at the Pumpkin Patch RV Resort in Hermon Maine from Wednesday, August 13th to Sunday, August 17th 2014.
There were a total of 30 rigs and 7 walk-ins attending.
Earl arrivals on Tuesday the 12th enjoyed an optional pre-rally dinner of their choice (dutch treat) at "Anglers Seafood Restaurant" in nearby Hampden ME. We dined in a separate room, reserved for us. We were a boisterous lot and we are sure other diners at the restaurant appreciated that fact.
Wednesday morning through Saturday dawned with coffee and a continental breakfast. Wednesday afternoon was spent with rally registrations and membership renewals officiated by Maureen Deroy (treasurer). A social hour occured before dinner time.
Wednesday evening included the rally Welcome Dinner. The menu consisted of a choice of a variety of submarine sandwiches and accompaniments.
Thursday, after an afternoon of crafts displayed by talented members was followed by a social hour and then the 30th Anniversary special celebration dinner. The dinner consisted of roast pork, baked potatoes and salad. The food was delicious and the room and tables were beautifully decorated. Immediately following the dinner we were entertained by a local magician (Dennis Labbe), who was quite mystifying.
Friday's breakfast also included "omelets in a bag" where each person chose their particular ingredients to be included with the eggs, in the bag which was sealed then immersed in boiling water for a specified amount of time. Keith Antworth and others oversaw the cooking and timing. Friday was a free day for attendees to spend the day touring or relaxing as they saw fit. Most were back in time for the social hour. In the evening there was a silent auction and a special live auction of selected items, performed by Don Monat who helped maximize the proceeds from the fund raiser.
Saturday, of course, was the biggest rally highlight. All the volunteers pitched in to prepare the grand feast. Tables were set, corn was shucked, lobsters (74) and clams (29 pounds) cooked in the pots. Everything tasted great! Later in the afternoon the annual chapter meeting took place. In the evening we enjoyed an ice cream social, posed for the group photo, had the door prize and 50/50 drawings.
There was also a tribute to veterans of the U.S. armed forces attending the rally. The final event of the evening was the annual Chapter 3 Kangroo Court. The presiding judge for 2014 was Charlie Bennett and "Lewis" Hinson carried the duties of Rally Sheriff.
Sunday, sadly, it was ime to say good bye, but not before a hearty breakfast of pancakes, eggs and sausages to get us on our way!
All in all a very successful rally!

2014 Annual Meeting Minutes
By Tracey Magee, Chapter 3 Secretary
Escapees Chapter 3
Meeting – August 16, 2014
Pumpkin Patch RV Resort, Hermon, ME
At 2:52 Joan Hurd, President, called the meeting to order and thanked Julie Antworth, Grace Taylor, the rally wagonmasters, and Delores Sacrider for their hard work on the rally.
Maureen DeRoy, Treasurer, reported a treasury balance of $2,212.10 before the rally. With a total deposit of $3,751.99, and rally expenses being $4,350.43. We had a treasury balance of $1,613.66.
A motion was made and seconded to approve the report as read.
The Devonshires, (Phil and Cindy) our VCRs explained what a VCR does, and also explained what Escapee BOF (Birds Of a Feather) groups are, and what their members have in common, like bird watching or quilting. Any-one can start a group but it has to be authorized. They also explained that the Head Out Program (HOP) arranges tours, and that CARE (Continued Assistance for Retired Escapees) assists with everyday living needs, laundry, food or just needed relief for the caregiver of a recovering partner.
The 2014 Escapade in Goshen, IN raised $2000.00 for CARE, and Donuts for CARE raised over $3000.00. The most expensive donut went for $1,110.00. There was a Grand Prize of an Adventure Caravan. We were reminded that the 2015 Escapade will be held in Tucson, AZ on March 8-13. The latest SKP membership number at the time was 118109.
A reminder was made to all that Escapees is offering membership or renewal for only $29.95 per year until 10/31/14.
Non Escapee campgrounds were discussed as well, and as a suggestion was made that when going to a new campground ask if they will honor Escapees discounts, if not ask them to look into it.
A Chapter 3 member offered information that Walmart offers Internet on the Go for anyone interested. This is a mobile wi-fi alternative to Verizon and others.
No old business was discussed when the topic was broached by the president.
On to new business!
Joan Hurd nominated John DeRoy for Vice President and Maureen DeRoy for Treasurer. Ron Scopa seconded the nominations and all members voted in agreement.
Joan asked for volunteers to form a nomination committee for next year’s officer elections and also some-one to take over the newsletter function from Ron.
John DeRoy is looking for wagon masters for both June and August rallies. Without people to step up, the rallies may not happen.
Adoptions of new members:
Richard & Rita Albright adopted by Joan Hurd & Ron Scopa
David & Karen Russell adopted by Judy & Paul Johnson
Rick & Eileen Russo adopted by Cindy & Phil Devonshire
Mel & Linda Burrows adopted by Tracey & Russell Magee
